The 73-day model

Five moments a year, one roughly every 73 days

A simple planning idea: 365 days, five meaningful moments, so appreciation doesn't go quiet for months. Employee milestones and Year-round appreciation together give an established employee five a year.

73

days, on average, between moments

One person's year, as an example. Birthdays and anniversaries fall on their own dates, so the spacing varies.

Every occasion

Each occasion runs on its own settings

An occasion that's on sends gifts by itself. Each one has its own gift tier, timing, and audience, and shows who it reaches, how many gifts to expect, and what they should cost. Turn one off and its settings are kept for when you turn it back on.

  • Upcoming gifts that haven't started are cancelled when you turn one off
  • Gifts already under way still finish
  • Turn it back on and upcoming gifts return

A welcome on day one

A welcome gift is dated on each new hire's start date. Turning it on never sends one to people who already work with you.

Emails at a good time

On-the-day emails go out from 9 AM in the recipient's own time zone.

Questions

Common questions

Quick answers.

What is a program?

A program is a set of occasions that work well together, such as Employee milestones: a welcome gift, birthdays, and work anniversaries. Turning one on sets up each of its occasions. Each occasion keeps its own gift tier, timing, and audience, and a program's status comes from its occasions, so it can show as partly on.

Do we have to use a ready-made program?

No. Most companies start with birthdays and work anniversaries, which you can turn on in one step. You can add occasions one at a time, create your own, or send a gift whenever the moment comes. Nothing is required, and you can change anything later.

How accurate are the numbers?

Reach and the gifts to expect use the same recipient and date rules that create your gifts. Cost is an estimate for budgeting: a gift tier with a price range counts at the top of its range, before tax. You're billed the real cost of each gift, never above the tier's maximum.

What happens if we turn something off?

Upcoming gifts that haven't started are cancelled, and you aren't charged for them. Gifts already under way still finish. Your settings are kept, so when you turn it back on, upcoming gifts return.

Does the 73-day model mean a gift every 73 days?

It's a planning idea, not a schedule: 365 days divided by five meaningful moments. Employee milestones and Year-round appreciation together give an established employee five a year, but birthdays and anniversaries fall on their own dates, so the spacing varies. On the Enterprise plan, Thankscrate plans the year for you within a budget.
